Von Westen her ist am Sonntag eine Unwetterfront über Österreich gezogen. Heftige Windböen, Hagel und starker Regen sorgten in Vorarlberg, Tirol, Salzburg und Oberösterreich für zahlreiche Feuerwehreinsätze.

Sonntagnachmittag zog die Unwetterfront zunächst über Vorarlberg. Die Feuerwehren waren vor allem wegen herabgestürzter Äste und Wasser in den Kellern im Einsatz. Personen kamen keine zu Schaden. In Bregenz fielen in einer halben Stunde mehr als 35 Liter Regen pro Quadratmeter. Das ist ein Fünftel der Gesamtsumme, die es durchschnittlich im ganzen Juni regnet –

In Tirol richtete die Gewitterfront im ganzen Land Schaden an – vor allem durch starke Windböen, die Bäume und ein Zelt umrissen. Vielerorts hagelte es auch, im Achental und im Außerfern besonders stark. In Innsbruck stürzte ein Baum auf ein Auto, verletzt wurde niemand –

In Salzburg mussten etliche Feuerwehren wegen Überflutungen von Straßen und Kellern ausrücken. Betroffen waren laut Landesfeuerwehrverband alle Bezirke mit Ausnahme des Lungaus –

Oberösterreichweit mussten 250 Feuerwehren zu insgesamt 760 Einsätzen ausrücken. Straßen wurden überflutet, Keller standen unter Wasser, und Dächer wurden abgedeckt. Die Aufräumarbeiten werden auch am Montag noch andauern –

Many fire department operations after thunderstorms

A storm front moved across Austria from the west on Sunday. Strong gusts of wind, hail and heavy rain caused numerous firefighting operations in Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg and Upper Austria.

Sunday afternoon, the storm front initially moved over Vorarlberg. The fire departments were mainly because of fallen branches and water in the basements in use. No persons were injured. In Bregenz, more than 35 liters of rain per square meter fell in half an hour. That is one fifth of the total amount that it rains on average in the whole of June – more on this in vorarlberg.ORF.at.

In Tyrol, the thunderstorm front caused damage throughout the country – mainly due to strong gusts of wind that outlined trees and a tent. In many places it also hailed, in the Achental valley and in the Außerfern region especially heavily. In Innsbruck, a tree fell on a car, no one was injured – more on this in tirol.ORF.at.

In Salzburg, several fire departments had to be called out because of flooding of streets and cellars. According to the regional fire brigade association, all districts were affected with the exception of Lungau – read more in salzburg.ORF.at.

Throughout Upper Austria, 250 fire departments had to respond to a total of 760 incidents. Streets were flooded, basements were under water and roofs were covered. The clean-up work will continue on Monday – more on this in ooe.ORF.at.
